ABOUT SOCIAL STRIDERS
Here at Social Striders we believe there is no set pace. We want to create a non competitive running club thats inclusive for all new runners abilities, no matter the pace.
We are friendly, accommodating and supportive no matter the goal.
Our aims for the club is to encourage you to have fun whilst running, make new friends, feel included and progress with your running.
We will not force training onto our runners, we encourage pushing yourself to your own boundaries, if that means missing out on a rep or two then thats completely fine... it's all at your own pace!.
In the long run we hope to offer a little bit more than weekly interval sessions... so watch this space.
ABOUT THE COACH
Hello, my name is Megan Clarke. I am an athletics coach and recent graduate from Leeds Beckett University in BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching. I have been coaching since 2015 and previously coached at Notts Athletics Club with the children development group. I have also been a competitive runner since 2012, competing over cross country, road and track at a county level. Over the past 3 years I have also been working part time at Up and Running (running retailer).
Why set up a non competitive running club?
Since 2020/21 running has exploded due to the covid-19 pandemic. Couch to 5K has been so popular and I've spoken to numerous of people saying they will be continuing with running which is amazing!. A lot of new runners may feel joining a competitive and well established running group quite scary, intimidating and expensive. I saw a gap for a friendly and non competitive club that gives new runners the opportunity to try club related training and atmosphere in a friendly, non judgemental, non compettive and inclusive environment at a low price. I want to help new runners explore this amazing sport whilst feeling comfortable, making friends and doing it safely.
